Harry Potter in one word

I just watched this at Sci-Fi Mafia, who got it from Empire Online, and it gave me a serious smile and a bit of a tear. They asked each of the primary actors in Harry Potter to sum up their 10 year experience of making the movies in one word. This was the result. You […]

Something to Do: Movies

Another Marvel film this time, although not on the path to The Avengers, but the 1960s origin story X-Men: First Class. This reboots the X-Men franchise with younger (i.e. less expensive) actors and explore how the characters and situations got to be the way they are.

Something to Watch: DVDs

For silly action fun we have Drive Angry, in which Nick Cage escapes from hell and goes on a road trip. There is one interesting classic collection being released as a box set this week: the Stanley Kubrick: Essential Collection. It has nine films, including genre favorites Dr. Strangelove, 2001: A Space Odyssey, A Clockwork […]

Killer Robots Monday

On Memorial Day, Monday evening, the Science Channel has some combat goodness from our new robot overlords. Mythbuster’s Grant Imahara will be hosting Killer Robots: RoboGames 2011, for the first television coverage of the International RoboGames from San Francisco. Previously known as RobOlympics, this competition has been going on for a decade and gets better […]

Balticon, Trek Movies this weekend

This weekend Balticon 45 takes over the Marriott’s Hunt Valley Inn in Baltimore, as it does every memorial day weekend. Ben Bova is the Guest of Honor, and they are doing the world premiere of Ninjas vs. Vampires amongst the other fun; day passes are still available and there is a Twitter Hashtag to follow. […]

Rings-Lost Mashup

I found this one interesting, and thought you might as well.

The Terminal Experiment trailer

This trailer for Robert J. Sawyer’s book The Terminal Experiment is a little hard for me to follow (since I don’t speak Hungarian), but is quite nicely done. This one appears to be publisher created, although without a translation I am just guessing, but some quite excellent book trailers have been created by fans.

New Torchwood trailer

Posted on the 17th, not that new perhaps, but it looks like this is going to be a fun ride. And Jack Harkness blends right in for this one.

Towel Day Tomorrow!

Every year on May 25th we celebrate Towel Day, taking a towel with us everywhere we go all day long. This is of course in honor of the brilliant author Douglas Adams, creator of the radio play that grew up to be the five books of The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy trilogy. It then […]

Something to Do: Movies

Kung Fu Panda 2 hits the big screen this weekend, and promises to be every bit as much fun as the first one. There are some who think the Tree of Life could be genre, but I have my doubts and will therefor be hangin’ with the Panda this time around.
