Something to Do: Movies

The stylish thriller Evolution will be in theaters this week, but it seems fairly close to horror based on the trailer I saw. Because of that I will not be one of the folks watching it. I also find it a tiny bit confusing that the only web site I could find for this French […]

Something to Do: Movies

2 films worth checking out this time, beginning with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, the long awaited DC entry into the Group Superhero movie field. Identicals, originally titled Brand New You, is a highly unconventional romantic thriller that will have you guessing throughout who is actually who. It takes place in a near-future world […]

Identicals Trailer

Identicals sounds like something from the mind of Philip K. Dick, with a series of near identical people taking over each others lives and leaving dead bodies in their wake, but it is written and directed by Simon Pummell. It has been making the Film Festival rounds for the last year, and will get a […]

Something to Do: Movies

My first choice for this weekend has to be Goosebumps, with Jack Black representing R.L. Stine; I think this one is going to be a serious hoot. If you are looking for a more serious thriller this Halloween season then Crimson Peak might be just the ticket for you. Finally, as a Spy fan I […]

American Horror Story: Hotel

The Hallways trailer for American Horror Story: Hotel is slick, and they just announced adding Lady Gaga to the cast (or at least I just heard about it). It hits the small screen on FX on Wednesday, October 7th.

Something to Do: Movies

The latest urban fantasy in the series, Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation will be pulling in the largest audiences this weekend. I don’t really think Extinction is going to pull the audience away in any great numbers, and documentaries like A LEGO Brickumentary never seem to have a large audience either, but both will also […]

Something to Do: Movies, 1Feb12

All the choices are a bit off-beat this week, but that works for me. Warm Bodies is the most interesting looking Zombie Comedy since Shawn of the Dead from my perspective. While I don’t recognize most of the cast, I am always ready to watch any film which includes John Malkovich on the roster.

Something to Do: Movies 3Dec12

There are several choices this weekend, although none of them are the action/adventure I tend to look forward to at this time of year. Bad Kids Go to Hell is The Breakfast Club meets The Ring, and there is something about the trailer that makes me think that was exactly how it was pitched to […]

Something to Do: Movies

This Friday the movie of choice is Super 8, yet another J.J. Abrams project by way of Steven Spielberg. Something escapes a train wreck while being transported from Area 51, and a group of kids catch some footage of it on a super 8 camera. Also out in extremely limited theatrical release (but available On […]

Something to Do: Movies

This time around is the franchise that wouldn’t die with another entry: Resident Evil: Afterlife. The fourth entry in this series finds Alice and here friend battling for their lives yet again, and this time it is in 3D. Also out this weekend, Who is Harry Nilsson (And Why is Everybody Talkin’ About Him?) is […]
