There are a number of viral Terminator: Salvation sites online, as there were for the new Trek movie and many others. One such site is Resist Or Be Terminated, done as the propaganda arm of John Connors resistance. Another is Enitechlabs Research, at first glance a particle physics web site. But a camera they have developed that takes pictures about 3 years in the future has begun to show some disturbing images, and something seems to be after the scientists now. Then there is Skynet Research, who are looking for a few good robotics design engineers, offering free download and installation of their Distributed Computing Network software, and giving away their security systems to install in your home or business…
You have to love the section of the TOR website called Of Interest, and here are a few recent examples why. The Web Urbanist has put together one of the best collections of Science Fiction Weapons assembled on a single web page. While mostly blasters, it includes one or two other types of offensive toys (not much for defense, here). Something Awful had its usual collection of Forum entries that allowed them to put together this excellent collection of Star Wars Classic Art. That may not mean exactly what you think it does, so be sure to take a peek. And from Geek Tout came the link for Silence of the Lego Lambs, the Musical (WARNING: not work friendly)…
I hit two movies yesterday, and I have to say I was most impressed with Push, which delivered much more than it’s trailer promised. If you haven’t seen it yet, do so today; but don’t bother to bring along friends who are slow on the uptake (like 55% of the reviewers at places like Rotten Tomatoes), because the plot twists and story pace are way too dense and swift for them to keep up. As for the other movie, all I can say is I have been struck by lightning one time… seven seems a bit much to me, but the film itself deserves whatever awards it might gather. For online fun, I recommend you check out the Anime Network Online Player, which is currently running Angelic Layer, Divergence Eve, and Mezzo, amongst others. Or you can hit Crunchy Roll to watch Steel Angel Kurumi and a whole bunch of other popular animes. ADV also has an online Anime viewing site you should enjoy. For gaming fun, the BBC has released a few of its Doctor Who Online Games for play outside of the UK, including the linked K9 game.
I have posted several times on the Battlestar Galactica webisodes, with a storyline that bridges the gap between the two halves of the final season. There are some other webisodes worth a visit, including The Recruit. This one tells the story of the Marines who volunteered to be guinea pigs in hopes of gaining powers to make them better soldiers, and is running between the two story arcs in the current Heroes season. They are also running a lot of other quality related material, including another webisode series, Hard Knox. Another fun webisode set is from Chuck, with a series of Buy More Employee Tips. Not all great webisodes are from NBC/Universal; Lisa Kudrow has an excellent new series online called Web Therapy you should take a look at, with all the biting humor you have come to expect from her.
