This one looks like a hoot! The original Dark Shadows TV series took itself way too seriously, but even as it was being aired everyone knew it was a campy classic. But with the Johnny Depp/Tim Burton makeover, there is not even the Shadow of a doubt: this one is being played for the fun of it! I am so ready to see the new version of Dark Shadows in a real theater!
Another new trailer has been released for Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, and the more I see, the more I am ready for the movie to get here! Fox doesn’t seem to have given the film its own web site yet, hope they at least promote it as the release date draws closer.
Today, March 22nd, is Talk Like William Shatner day because it is the birthday of both William Shatner and James T. Kirk. In honor of the event the folks at Think Geek have a Shatner Mask in PDF format they invite you to download for free, print out, wear in public, and take a picture to send them (work safe only, please). They have various Star Trek goodies they are giving away, you can see the prize list and the rules on that page.
Prometheus starts out being about the origin of mankind, but gets to be more about the alien life before long. It is the prequel to the Aliens series, and this first full length trailer looks really good. I like the fact that they pulled in Noomi Rapace, her amazing performance in the three Girl With The Dragon Tattoo movies showed just how powerful an actress she is. She is he only modern actress who stands a chance of holding a candle to Ripply.
The 2012 USA Science & Engineering Festival will be taking place April 28th and 29th all over the country, with a specific focus at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC. There will be a ton of stage performances from a host of people and organizations, and a lot of things happening outside the scope of the time and location of the event proper, such as the Rockville Science Day gathering.
The obvious must-see movie this time around is The Hunger Games, and it is good to know that it is still possible to tell a story important enough that it needs no sparkling vampires to draw ones attention. The book was well done, I can’t wait to see how the movie turns out.
