The full trailer for The Pirates! Band Of Misfits is finally out, and it is a hoot. This animation is from the team that brings you Wallace and Gromit, so you know you are in for quality fun. It also has the best flying whale sequence since Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy, and it should be out in March. I am ready for some silliness!
For the second week in a row, no real new genre releases but they have turned one of the better books by a good author into a film I will be going to see: Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. And once more, John le CarrĂ©’s hero Smiley gets put through the wringer for our enjoyment. They put together a quality cast for this project as well, in my opinion it should be a good counterbalance to enjoy against next weeks Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows release.
Nothing of interest coming out this week, so it is a good time to catch up on something previously released you might have missed. I will be seeing Hugo myself, since life was a bit too hectic to catch it this past weekend what with the holiday and all.
While not exactly genre, the movie version of Haywire looks like it will be a hoot to experience.
Pixar is setting up to do it again, this time with an animation by the name of Brave from the Disney stable. Here is the first trailer I have been able to find, and I am looking forward to seeing how they manage to pull off Brave, even if it does look a lot like Dreamwork’s How To Train Your Dragon. They are, after all, somewhat related as animation houses go.
The first film out of this weeks collection has to be Hugo from Martin Scorsese about a boy and his robot. This may be one of the best Steampunk movies from this decade, and certainly the best Scorsese film for the last 3. And then we have The Muppets for the Thanksgiving weekend treat. I should also probably mention Arthur Christmas, just for the sake of completeness.
