We have 3 movies to pick from this week, and I am thinking I need to see at least 2 of them. First off is Jupiter Ascending from Andy and Lana Wachowski. I love a good space opera, and this one has the fate of the Earth at stake if things don’t go well. I can’t wait to see how this one turns out, and I will probably go for the IMAX 3D version. Seventh Son is a supernatural thriller that also looks quite entertaining, with an apprentice hero facing a major evil witch during his training. Finally, the historical fantasy Outcast has a western Knight teaming up with the children of a deposed Chinese Emperor to defeat a tyrant. That one came out last year in Asia but get’s its North American release this Friday.
This is actually the Outcast trailer, but Nick Cage went so over the top yet again I had to rename the post to his character. This one looks like it will be a lot of fun, and I will be in the theater for it. I would have been in the theater for it 6 months ago, but the release got delayed a bit.
Because the first one wasn’t enough, Ted 2 brings still more Teddy bear silliness to the theater. It will be hitting the big screen on June 26, 2015.
Project Almanac is about a group of friends who stumble across a time machine one of their parents were working on, and finish assembling it. It doesn’t take them long to realize this was a mistake. Alien Outpost is about a documentary crew following an elite unit of soldiers in the wake of an alien invasion. Hard to Be a God has group of scientists is sent to the planet Arkanar to help the local civilization. The movie is Russian, I have no idea why the official site I found for it is in Japan. At least the The Official Site of Arkady and Boris Strugatsky, the folks who wrote the story it is based on, is from there. In Legends from the Sky a Native American Veteran is looking for his missing grandfather after his land is taken over by an unknown federal organization looking for a UFO. Note that some of these are limited engagements and won’t be found in a lot of theaters.
There is a new trailer out for Avengers: Age Of Ultron, as if we needed any additional urging to see this film.
This week we get Strange Magic, an animated film about the culture clash and confusion that ensues when goblins and fairies find each other for the first time. Both the animation quality and the story look first rate, I will be in the theater for this one.
