JJ is the best thing to happen to the Trek franchise since Gene Roddenberry himself, the new cast is dead on perfect, and I didn’t really need another trailer to let me know I NEED to be in the theater for this one! On the other hand, it doesn’t hurt, and what a treat to get a few more glimpses before the curtain opens and the lights go down!
Actually, this is the Red Band trailer for the new film, This Is The End, so you probably don’t want to watch it at work. It should be hitting the big screen around June or so, and it bares a distinct resemblance to Hot Tub Time Machine, in attitude if not in execution. I suspect this one just might be a hoot.
OK, it is really more of a Man of Steel trailer, but General Zod is the only on in it. so it seemed like an appropriate title. It will be coming out on June 14th around North America, if you live elsewhere check the release dates listed on the site.
I don’t know if they switched release dates at the last minute or if I just wasn’t paying attention, but it turns out this is the week they release Oblivion, not last week as I had previously said. Whenever it hits the big screen, I intend to be there.
From the creator of District 9 comes another sci-fi action movie that looks like a lot of fun: Elysium. Unlike the first movie, he managed to get a couple of top names in the form of Matt Damon and Jodie Foster. This one will be in theaters on August 9th.
This week Oblivion hits the big screen, with Tom Cruse returning to the abandoned Earth to extract resources. While there he discovers things that make him think he has been lied to about what is really going on, and who the war over the Earth was with. If you would prefer something a bit more silly, Scary Movie V continues that parody franchise.
