This is going to be a Canadian remake of the UK series, with Niall Matter (he played Zane on Eureka) channeling Connor and Sara Canning (she was Jenna on The Vampire Diaries) doing the Abby type persona. Right now they have signed up channels to show it in Canada and England, and I am personally hoping someone in the US agrees to air it. Amanda Tapping, Martin Wood and Andy Mikita (Stargate SG1 veterans all) are all signed up to direct various episodes, and Andrew-Lee Potts (the original Connor) will be showing up as a guest star. Thanks to the Hollywood Reporter for the heads up on this one.

The first Official Doctor Who Convention will be held in Cardiff the weekend of March 24th and 25th. The guest list is every bit as impressive as you would expect, and since they actually film in Cardiff there will be outrageous new opportunities, including a TARDIS set tour on the actual sound stage. Pretty much every special presentation ever held at the Doctor Who Experience will be part of the weekend, which makes sense when you realize they have already closed in London and moved it to Cardiff, where they are now putting it back together, along with various new bits. I feel the need for another excursion to the UK coming on…

In November of 2013 Doctor Who will be 50 years old, having first aired in November, 1963. Moffat and company have been doing a great job of building up to it, and promise a really exciting series of events throughout the year. In honor of that, a trailer for the last question, and a snippet of an interview with Aldred and McCoy about their interest in joining in on the fun.

SG1’s Michael Shanks, Smallville’s Erica Durance, and The Vampire Diaries’ Daniel Gillies are the stars of the new TV show Saving Hope, where they are all doctors. But Shanks becomes a patient in a coma, walking the halls in spirit form as the others fight to save his life, interacting with the spirits and ghosts of other patients. They have been commissioned for a 12 episode first season, and I like the actors, so I will be checking this out to see how they do with it.
