Deadpool 2 Final Trailer

The Avengers were amazing, and since Disney acquired 20th Century Fox we got to see it a week earlier than expected so it wouldn’t cut into Deadpool 2’s box office. They will obviously be pounding on the 4th Wall again, and I am particularly looking forward to how the actress will personify Domino.

Perfume: Mugenmirai

Perfume started life as an electronica oriented art-rock band, and they have grown since then. Mugenmirai, in English Flash, is the theme song of CHIHAYAFURU, a movie about the card game that is at the core of so many Asian games, and of the spirit of competition it brings. I intend to see this movie, […]

Radwimp: Legend of the Demon Cat

Radwimp has done the music for another feature film, the Live Action Legend of the Demon Cat, and it looks amazing; the title of the theme song is Mountain Top. The movie was made by major Japanese film company Kadakawa, includes a substantial Japanese cast, and is based on a Japanese novel by Yoneyama Mineo. […]

Perfume: Ready for Prime Time

Perfume started life as an electronica oriented art-rock band back when they lived in Shibuya, and they have evolved wonderfully in the past decade. They have a tasty new tune to share, and although the versions available for posting online are short, they illustrate the power the full version brings to the table.

Kitten Witch

Kitten Witch is absolutely adorable, as you are about to see. Written by James Cunningham with cinematographer Oliver Hilbert, you may feel the need to watch it again and again.

SIGGRAPH Asia

A few highlights from SIGGRAPH Asia 2017, and an invitation to make the 2018 gathering. If you are into creating your own animations, or you like doing 3D modelling, you really don’t want to miss this event.

Something to Do: Movies

For the second week in a row we get a movie worth checking out. Annihilation is based on the multiple award winning book of the same name by Jeff VanderMeer, and since it is the first book of a trilogy there may be more coming if this one does well. As with most books turned […]

Something to Do: Movies

There hasn’t been anything worth mentioning for a while, but this week there are a couple of good choices. Top of the list is Marvel’s Black Panther, possible the only Marvel superhero to address the U.N. periodically as part of his day job. As near as I can recall, anyone else that went before the […]

Something to Do: Movies

The winner this week has to be The Shape of Water, a story by Guillermo del Toro that seems to be an evolution of one of the characters from his Hellboy films. I am looking forward to seeing this one on the big screen.

Something to Do: Movies

There are a number of choices this weekend, but top of the list in my mind is Pixar’s Coco, which just looks like too much fun to miss. It actually starts playing on Wednesday, to take advantage of the long holiday weekend. John Cusack’s new film Singularity could be interesting, but the trailer makes me […]
