POLKADOT STINGRAY’s new song Aoi is the ending theme to the TV Anime Series “Godzilla Singular Point”, was posted last month, and is the first track in tonight’s assortment. I have to admit to being a little confused about why a music video for a song for a Gojira series is so obviously based on the 1987 Wim Wenders’ masterpiece Der Himmel über Berlin (called Wings of Desire for the English version). Or maybe it’s based on the 1998 American remake of that film, City of Angels but either way it was a treat to watch. The 2nd video is the Anime version of the same song, while the third is both live action and anime of their song Kenshin from their 3rd full album. The last video is the acoustic version of their song Pose, or at least as acoustic as something recorded with an electric guitar can be.

All of these tracks were posted by the band in the last 90 days. Like so many of the bands I have listed here since I migrated to the new server, I have lost their blog entries from the last few years, but still retain some older entries you might enjoy checking out.

Polkadot Stingray is a quality Art Rock band (they call themselves a Paranormal Plush Guitar Rock Band, quite a catchy title) with an unusual range. The first track is Telecaster Stripes, which they posted on March 4th of this year, the second is Dawn of the Orange from May of last year. Check them out and see what you think. The final posting here is the song Mermaid recorded live back on January 20th, and while I like the energy of their live tracks, I have to admit I enjoy the quality of their studio recorded songs much more.

Just a few days ago PolkadotStingray uploaded another track from their new album; the song is called Surrender and in just those few days it has received over 185,000 views. The second track, Mizuho Dance, was posted on October 25th, and has collected just under 1,140,000 views to date. I am not sure if that one is part of the new album, since it was put together in honor of the Mizuho Financial Group’s Jump Project, but it was too good a tune not to share it with everyone.

There are some new songs from Fukuoka prefecture art-rock band PolkadotStingray (yes, it really is one word run together), the first one here is ELECTRIC PUBLIC posted last Sunday and rapidly approaching half a million view in just 6 days. That is the opening song of their 1st Mini Album Great Justice, which will be released on April 26th. The next track is the mermaid from their first E.P. release last year, Boneless E. P., and I almost put a pretty interesting Google Android commercial they did for an app that would let you search for photos of yourself. The song on that one is great, but I can’t see posting a commercial.
