The main movie for this weekend has to be Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. If the film is half as good as the trailer, it is going to be a blast. And it looks like you don’t have to be a master of the game to enjoy it, unlike some movies built from games.
If you are a George A. Romero fan, then you might want to go to George A. Romero’s Survival of the Dead, which is something like the 6th Dead movie he has made.
I don’t know why but I’m not excited about Price of Persia at all. I see the Donnie Darko guy and he confuses me.
Games turned into movies are often very bad, sometimes so bad even Rifftrax or MST3K can’t redeem them; I am hoping this is one of the exceptions. Donnie Darko was convoluted and dark, but executed with a good deal of precision, and it is that kind of attention to detail that could be critical to pull off a story where short time-hops are a hook. I like the trailer for this movie, and I will buy the ticket in the hopes that it will deliver on the potential; I am really hoping they give it the Disney adventure ride treatment like they did with the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. I can use all the silly adventure fun I can get!
