Rocking out Kobe (the place the amazing beef comes from), Egg Brain knows how to party. The first track is called Muzic, their 4th single released on February 5th. The second song posted here is Vitamin from a year ago February (way back in 2013), and the final selection is Awake from their 4th full album in 2012. This band has an energy I haven’t heard since Asian Kung Fu Generation, I am looking forward to a lot more killer music from them. They have been cranking out an excellent assortment of tunes since 2007, I will probably need to post some more of their stuff soon.

The band is BABYMETAL, and their 1st full album is now out, with the same name. Cute girls in kawaii outfits singing sweet heavy metal harmonies… what’s not to like? The first track I posted is the live version of Gimme Chocolate, the second is the studio version of Megitsune. And I had to include their song Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!. This band is tearing up iTunes, rated in the top 10 in 7 countries including the US, and their physical media is available as a CD of the studio tracks, or a limited edition with the CD and a DVD with their live tracks, all from the self titled album.

DOLL$BOXX is a five to seven woman rock band from Japan (some members seem to be there intermittently as other projects draw them away), formed when the band Gacharic Spin joined forces with Fuki, the lead singer from Lightbringer. Both bands continue to record and tour separately, and both are very good, but I really like the music they created together. The first track is their song Take My Chance from 2012, the second is 2013’s Merrily High Go Round.

Topping the list this week is the long awaited Odd Thomas, the Dean Koontz masterwork series now in Movie format (at least the first volume). There are also Webisodes of Odd Thomas you might enjoy. While it opened last week at an extremely limited number of theaters, The Wind Rises goes into wide release this week. The latest creation of Hayao Miyazaki is a biography for once, the story of a real person who designed some of the most innovative airplanes in the world for his time. It is up for an Academy Award for best animated feature film, you have this brief opportunity to see it on the big screen. Even though it is a Japanese production, this is animation, not anime; like all Studio Ghibli works it is very much in the style of Walt Disney. Even though it isn’t genre, Stalingrad looks like a very unusual WWII movie you might want to take note of, and catch if you are in one of the towns it is playing in.

This girl sings in a hoodie… and never lets you see her face. The artist is Nano, the first album is West Ground, and the first track is Born To Be. The second track is Savior Of Song from her collection My First Story. I do like her voice and her style, and I appreciate her Robin Williams reference in her URL (nanonano, a rather Mork-like greeting)!
