The Pillows will be doing the music for the FLCL sequel, just like they did for the original. They also recently released their 20th album, Stroll and Roll. Character designer Yoshiyuki Sadamoto will also be returning for FLCL2, and joining the team for the first time is Katsuyuki Motohiro, director of Psycho-Pass. The original 6 episode series was groundbreaking and quirky, I can’t wait to see what they do with the new one. The first track is from that original series, Ride On Shooting Star, the second is I think I can, and the third is No Self Control
The new Hello Sleepwalkers release is Planless Perfection, which they rolled out back in March, and the VR style 360 degree song posted first is from that album. I recommend putting on your VR headset and best set of headphones for that one; being surrounded by the band while they play is quite a nice effect. The second track here, called something like the collapse of the Myth of Huai, is also from their latest realease. They are probably best known for doing the OP for the first season of the anime Noragami, which is a fun little show about an unemployed god; that track was on their 2014 album. Finally, again from Planless Perfection, a slight change of pace with their song Breaking Dawn.
OLDCODEX is one of the bands playing the Anisong World Matsuri in just two weeks, so this seemed like a good time to share some of their music. The first track is Walk, the ending theme from the Anime Kuroko’s Basketball, the second is Aching Horns from the Anime Feature Film High Speed! -Free! Starting Days-, and the third track Feed A isn’t in an Anime, I just like it…
The Anisong World Matsuri takes place July 2nd and 3rd as part of Anime Expo, pretty much North America’s most intense Anime Con. The musical line up is amazing, with 9 artists including:
Eir Aoi (Fate/Zero, Sword Art Online, Kill la Kill, more)
Flow (Naruto, Eureka seveN, more)
JAM Project (MACROSS 7, One Piece, Yu-Gi-Oh!, over 100 more)
Luna Haruna (Sword Art Online I and II, Monogatari, more)
Minami (Haruka Suzumiya, Infinite Stratos, Mobile Suit Gundam Age, more)
OLDCODEX (GODEATER, Free, more)
Sphere (Demon King Daimao, Class of Heroes 2, more)
T.M.Revolution (Rurouni Kenshin, Bleach, Mobile Suit Gundam SEED, more)
Yoko Ishida (Ah! My Goddess, Sailor Moon R, Strike Witches, more)
Björk’s Stonemilker is a 360 degree video that she posted around this time in 2015, ready to be played in your VR headset of choice (as previously mentioned, mine is Google Cardboard). Before it was released to You Tube it was a Museum of Modern Art installation in the VW Dome, where they set up 7 VR headset stations so museum goers could have the full experience. Now she is touring the world with the Björk Digital Exhibition, which currently includes Stonemilker and three other VR tracks from her album Vulnicura. She plans to render the other 5 pieces from that CD into VR format, and release the entire thing as the Vulnicura VR Album. Thanks to VR Scout for the heads up on this one.
This week a few additional tracks from J-Pop band frederic (no, I have no idea why their name is un-capitalized). The first is Tomei-ningen (Invisible Man) posted last October, the second is Only Wonder, posted online on May 12th of this year.
