The first track is from the band Unlimits, and while I may not be good enough yet to follow the dialog I can sure follow the attitude! The presentation after that is the band Special Thanks doing their song NEVER GIVE UP. And to round it out, we have Blue Sugar Spirits doing their hit モノクロ. Trust me when I say you are going to like this music. And then Special Thanks comes back one last time, to do their song You say GOOD BYE. If you have trouble finding these at your local brick and mortar, check Amazon, iTunes, and iTunes Japan (you can pick up gift cards to use on iTunes Japan from places like JBox, which do take American credit cards).

Happy Valentines day; it is a bit difficult to find references worth noting about science fiction Valentines, but I did rather like Geek Love’s 10 Couples from the Big and Small Screen the other week. They also put together a nice collection of Geek Valentines Cards that had a couple of real winners in it. For something more interactive than reading a web site, you still have time to Send a Doctor Who Valentines Card to your significant alien. Finally, the best Steampunk Valentines Song I have ever seen; enjoy.

These are from SxSW, a killer little festival from Austin, Texas. If you are at all interested in Indi bands from any part of the world, you need to make this annual party. The first track is from Brite Futures doing the song Too Young To Kill. The second is the band Therapy? with their song Living In The Shadow Of A Terrible Thing. The third and final track for today’s entry is Mujeres, rounding it out with the tune LA.

2NE1 keeps creating some amazing rock, and here we have a few more examples for you. The first one goes by the title Hate You, and is a good example of how to animate a live band. It includes a number of classic Anime tropes and characters being inserted into your Real Life environment. The second selection is Ugly, which epitomizes the core insecurities so many people live with every day, even if they are not valid. The third track, Follow Me, is just visually fun. Do not be surprised if you have difficulty following the lyrics; they keep sliding back and forth between English and Korean. If your local brick and mortar doesn’t have this music, you should find it on Amazon, iTunes, and the like…

This was too much fun to let it go completely… so here we got with more Stormtrooper dancing. The first one was called Dance Vader and took place in 2007. The second one is a Korean variation, from 2010. The third? A French animation done with stop motion. The fourth is a parody video that doesn’t actually have any dancing in it, but it fits the theme and was just too silly to avoid posting. Enjoy!

Bringing it all back home, a few tunes from the culture I grew up with, starting with The Kills with the live version of Black Balloon they did on KEXP. And then Florence and the Machine doing Rabbit Heart (her more recent studio track, No Light, No Light, is at the bottom of the page), followed by Zola Jesus with her song Sea Talk. All live selections from the same Seattle radio station, KEXP FM, and all world class examples of quality music.
