There is absolutely no reason for this video to be here, except I thought it was creative as hell and wanted to share it.
Tomorrow, on July 22nd,the Cartoon Network will be presenting their Lego Star Wars TV Special, and it should be a lot of fun. Thanks to SFX for the heads up on this one. Called Lego Star Wars: The Padawan Menace, it has characters from every incarnation of Star Wars built so far, is written by the folks who do The Simpsons, and animated b the team who created Happy Feet. Nice to know that the franchise continues to evolve and perhaps even be a bit silly on occasion.
Sometimes silly commercials are actually fun. While these may not be sci-fi, they are silly, and that counts for a lot with me. Plus, commercials invoke a discipline most audio/video creators never have to work within: tell your entire story and get your message across in 15 seconds to 3 minutes. If that sounds easy, give it a shot, and see just how it works out for you. I was surprised at the results I got the first few times, but as I worked at condensing the plot and action, I got better at it, and the stories themselves had a lot more punch in a lot less screen time.
What could be more silly than a Ukulele Orchestra doing rock? Perhaps a Kazoo Band, but not much else to my mind. So here are a few silly Ukulele songs to hold us until I can gather together a few of the other tunes.
There are times you feel like watching something strange and silly, made with decent computer animation skills. I just kept gawking at this, so I thought I should finally share it.
I can’t believe I am missing Farpoint again, and only realized it because of the Farpoint Hashtag running rampant through the folks I am following on Twitter! Not only is it one of the best Fan-run Cons ever, it takes place within an hours drive of where I live! Of course, even if I had remembered I would have missed it this year, because I seem to have broken my foot while fighting my way free of the Snopocalypse. Project for the weekend: build a database of events I don’t want to miss on one of my home computers, and set it up to propagate automatically to a few select servers. Project for next weekend: set up one module on every server farm in my cluster to spam me across all the devices I own one month in advance of every event in the local database, and resend the alert once a week until the event happens. Who knows, perhaps by 2020 I will stop missing events from ignorance, and only miss them for actual reasons.

Thanks to the folks at Sci-Fi Geeks for the initial heads up on this one. They were also the place I first learned Korea upgraded Avatar to 4D, adding 30 physical effects to the movie (including moving seats and the smell of explosives), because 3D was just not good enough.
