Truly amazing live music; David Byrne (Talking Heads) and Annie Clark (St. Vincent) did this concert just a few months ago at Strathmore Hall in Rockville, Md, and NPR was there to capture it. Most of this show was from their 2012 album Love This Giant, but they each did a track or two from their previous groups, like Talking Head’s Burning Down the House and St. Vincent’s Marrow.

This is a single instance of the huge collection of concerts and music from around the world that NPR makes available. Today alone, NPR will be doing Nick Cave and the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s live from SXSW. Please tell me you are checking these out when they happen, and supporting NPR with whatever resources you have available, so they continue this wonderful work.

Глюк’oZa is a band that knows how to blend excellent animation with quality music, and they have built a sci-fi storyline much as Gorillaz have. The name of the band is also the stage name of the lead singer/songwriter/dancer/actress, Gluk’oza’s real name being Natalia Ilinichna Ionova. The stage name means Glucose, or Sugar in Russian, and I pretty much like all her music. These are just a few of her videos, you can see lots more on her web site, and I will no doubt post more of them here another time.

A couple of tunes in Russian I like, that also have tasty video’s with them. The first is ANA BASTON with her song Li-Lu, the second is Pavlova’s song Часы. I don’t have a clue what they are about, but I like the music and visuals both, and Pavlova is definitely Clockpunk.

Over the years, Disney has done some of the best educational work ever assembled, translating complex concepts about science and history into forms we can all easily understand. This is one of my all time favorites from that collection, a story about the history of space science, and how we came to understand how it works. Mind, Disney did nothing about resolving the scientific questions, but it sure explained them so we all understood, and gave us a fun little animation to watch while doing so. I like it a lot, and appreciate the education it has given so many, including me.
