If you are a fan of Steampunk and Steampunk music, you will be happy to know there is a new Abney Park song posted online, Evil Man. And if you are a Steampunk fan, you want to go vote for the Steam Punk Chronicles Awards, letting them know what you favorite choice is for each category. Some of them are no-brainer’s but some are almost too close to call.
Marina Orlova is better known online under the name HotForWords, and she celebrated her 100 Millionth View on YouTube in the middle of 2008. In a recent posting she examined the origin of the name of her new cell phone, and tied it into Philip K. Dick’s classic work Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep, renamed to Bladerunner when they made the movie version. So for the 17 people in the world who don’t know Philip or Marina, here is her comment on his work…
This one cracked me up; the advertising agency promo about how they got the Mayan Apocalypse of 2012 to have their brand awareness outshine the Egyptians. The internet continues to be a wonderful place, which is totally due to the creativity of the folks that live there, which in this case means Buzzman.
There are several tasty Korean bands I would like to mention today, the first one being Girl’s Generation. They are more of a pop group than a rock group, but they have worked long and hard at creating a following, as you can tell from their song Run Devil Run. The next track to mention is the band 4Minute doing their hit Heart 2 Heart, and then the song I have been waiting for: I Go Crazy Because Of You by T-Ara. As I said, more pop than rock, but a bit of good music even so. Unfortunately, every one of them was removed from YouTube, so I have removed the videos here as well, in case they were taken down because of copyright issues.
Happy Valentines day; it is a bit difficult to find references worth noting about science fiction Valentines, but I did rather like Geek Love’s 10 Couples from the Big and Small Screen the other week. They also put together a nice collection of Geek Valentines Cards that had a couple of real winners in it. For something more interactive than reading a web site, you still have time to Send a Doctor Who Valentines Card to your significant alien. Finally, the best Steampunk Valentines Song I have ever seen; enjoy.

The first track is from Brite Futures doing the song Too Young To Kill. The second is the band Therapy? with their song Living In The Shadow Of A Terrible Thing. The third and final track for today’s entry is Mujeres, rounding it out with the tune LA.
